Game Rules
Classic 8-Ball & Eightball Pool Rules & Strategy
8-Ball Pool (also known as eightball) is a call-shot game played with a cue ball and 15 object balls (numbered 1 to 15). One player assigned to solids (balls 1–7) and the other to stripes (balls 9–15) must clear their group before pocketing the 8-ball to win.
- Opening Break: The 8-ball is racked in the center of the triangle. The table remains open until a group is established by legally potting a ball after the break.
- Legal Shots: On every shot, the cue ball must hit a ball from your assigned group first, and at least one ball must hit a cushion or be pocketed.
- Winning the Game: Pocket the 8-ball into a called pocket after clearing all your group balls. Pocketing the 8-ball early or on a foul results in a loss.
